Job Description

About the Role

REALM is working with a pre-seed on-chain prop trading firm to hire their first quant researcher. This is a founding mandate where you'll build the research function from scratch and hire behind you as the firm scales.

The Problem

Statistical inference under pressure: judging trader edge from short, noisy track records across hundreds of concurrent books, accounting for multiple testing, survivorship, and shifting regimes. Around that sits the allocation decision of which flow to internalise versus hedge, real-time netting of correlated positions, and parameter design that holds up against traders actively probing it.

Responsibilities

  • Trader classification and scaling framework
  • Hedging engine across a broad range of perpetual markets
  • Risk parameters and governance
  • Live risk surface and stress modelling

About the Company

Early-stage, well-backed, and already live with real traders and real capital. Built on a leading on-chain derivatives infrastructure. The team has backgrounds at top-tier trading and banking institutions and the founders have deep experience in both DeFi and institutional markets.

Requirements

  • Strong mathematical foundation — probability, stochastic processes, statistical inference
  • Rigour to apply mathematics to live systems under uncertainty
  • Deep derivatives knowledge (Greeks, VaR/CVaR, hedging, stress testing)
  • Strong Python stack
  • Ownership to lead a function from day one
  • Crypto or DeFi familiarity (strong plus)

Benefits

$200,000 – $250,000 base + founding equity

Remote-friendly with a London office available if you wish to visit.
